Mission Statements
At Fourth Form, our mission is to foster a community of practice in which everyone is valued, respected, and encouraged to grow. We recognize that we come from different backgrounds and have a variety life experiences that make us who we are. Despite our differences in these areas and/or in culture, religion, politics, or ideological worldview, we are united by our study and mutual enjoyment of a traditional, beautiful martial art.
In this spirit, we stand by the following statements:
We believe in the innate human dignity of every person and endeavor to treat one another with respect in accordance with this inherent dignity, even when it may be difficult to do so.
We believe that we are all lifelong learners and strive to keep ourselves open to encountering new ideas and experiences that do not match our own.
We believe that everyone has the potential to grow. We seek to foster an environment that encourages growth in ourselves and others.
We believe that no one is an island, and that we need a supportive community to reach our full potential. We attempt to create a healthy community as we accompany one another on life’s journey.
We believe that what we learn through the study of martial arts is not for us alone. We actively look for ways to use what we have learned to help others grow in confidence and ability.
